About famo.us

famo.us publishes practical guides and reference data on web animation and rendering performance: how to choose, implement, interrupt and measure browser animation. Each page answers one implementation question, gives a complete original example, and records exactly what was tested and what was not.

Independent and new

This is a new publication under new ownership. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a continuation of any previous operator, framework, product or company at this domain, and nothing published here before 2026 is republished. Some older addresses now lead to a new page on the same technical subject; that page is new work and does not carry forward former authorship, software, accounts, downloads or services.

How pages are made

Pages are drafted with AI assistance from primary documentation, published package metadata and our own runnable test pages. Every behavioural claim is checked against those test pages in a real browser, and each page’s Tested box names the browser, operating system and date, and lists what was not tested. Performance statements name the metric and the conditions; we do not call anything fast or smooth without a measurement. The methods and editorial policy set out the rules.

Review

We are adding independent technical review by a named frontend engineer. When a page has been reviewed, the reviewer’s name, credential and review date appear at the top of it.

Code, data and sponsors

Code examples are original and MIT licensed. Our package data is licensed under CC BY 4.0; the packages it describes keep their own licences. Some pages may carry a clearly labelled sponsor module after the main content; sponsors never affect answers, examples, dataset rows or results. See disclosure.
